Joh 7:24  Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

What does judgment mean?
Judgment means the ability to make the right kind of decisions after thinking carefully about a matter.

What does righteous judgment mean?
Righteous judgment means to decide a matter or an issue after examining it based on the word of God.

I wanted to talk about making righteous judgment because a lot of people misinterpret the scriptures and use it wrongly to defend unrighteous practices.

Nowadays, it is common when you rebuke sin, people get offended and they start using phrases such as God loves me, He sees my heart, do not judge only God can judge me and so forth.

First of all that is not true. The word of God is used and it is given unto us for correction and reproval of sin to make people ripe for salvation.

There is possibly no way you can practice lawlessness and claim that you have a good heart. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

The word of God says that an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart produces evil fruits and a good man out of the good treasure of his heart produces good fruits.

If you practice lawlessness it is a clear cut evidence that your heart is evil. The word of God tells us to make a righteous judgment.

We are allowed to judge and condemn evil acts in the society. If sinners come around you and you fail to tell them the truth, you will be a partaker of their sins and their blood will be poured over you.

Some people tend to quote the scripture and say that judge not lest you be judged and use this verse to defend their evil works.

This verse means that you have to be righteous first before you can start judging. Jesus Christ was condemning hypocrisy, Jesus was not forbidding us from rebuking evil in the society.

If you are a smoker you can’t condemn other people from smoking because you are doing the same thing and they will also judge you for smoking. It is vain condemning sins which you are involved in.

But if you are living holy life in Christ Jesus, you are given the authority and the mandate to make a righteous judgment and warn the wicked from the error of his way.

Jesus was teaching us in Mathew 7:1 that when we judge other people we are also to consider our ways before God and make sure that they are right before we can start correcting others.

Again we are not allowed to make wrong judgment. If you make a statement about a person or a situation that is false you will be judged for it, but if you make a righteous judgment you will be praised by Jesus Christ for speaking out the truth.

Make a righteous judgment and do not mind what sinners do or say to defend their unfruitful works of darkness.

Judge, condemn and rebuke sin always for the well-being of your soul and other people.
Judge righteous judgment.
