WARNING SLOTHFUL SERVANTS
A slothful servant is a lazy servant.
Laziness is the opposite of industrious or a hardworking person.
It is the will of God for His servants to be hardworking and bear good fruits for his kingdom.
I know the way of the cross is difficult and often times it causes us to be persecuted, intimidated and often times killed. Through the Holy Spirit we can be able to fulfill the will of God on this earth.
God considers slothfulness as a sin and He has warned us in the bible about slothful servants.
Jesus Christ warned us about being slothful by giving a teaching about a slothful servant.
Jesus said that a king had gone to a far country and gave talents to his servants to go and trade in them and make profit on his behalf.
The first one was given five talents, the second one was given two talents and the third one was given one talent.
After a long time he returned and inquired of his servants how they had used the talents that he gave to them.
The first one had gained other five and the second one other two talents but the third one was lazy and he went and hid his Lords talent.
The first and the second servant were rewarded while the third servant was punished because of his slothfulness.
This teaching by Jesus Christ shows that every Christian is given a talent or a gift by God to use it and bear fruit for his kingdom.
We are not allowed to hide it but to display it for all to see so that the name of the Almighty God may be praised and unbelievers turned from the ways of death to the ways of life.
Every Christian has something to do for the Lord.
Some have the gift of singing, preaching, encouraging others, casting out demons, prophesying, teaching, evangelizing, making intercessory prayers for others, dancing for the Lord this implies a Godly dance, e.t.c.
These talents are expected to be used for the kingdom of God. A lot of Christians wind up in the pit because they refused to use their talents that they were given by God.
Use your talents and let God be glorified through you.
Do not desire the talent that another person has, or do not push yourself to do something that you are not talented to do, use your talent and win souls for Christ for this is pleasing to God.
Slothful servants on the contrary do not want to get up and do anything for God.
They want to stay idle without doing anything for the Lord. Jesus Christ did not save us so that we stay comfortable without caring about the lost around us.
If you fail to warn the wicked from his ways of death, the Lord will claim his or her blood on your head.
We are required to go out in the world and evangelize to the lost and if they acknowledge the truth, God will grant them repentance. Slothful servants love hiding their gifts that they have.
Slothful servants may avoid singing, dancing, preaching, evangelizing, teaching, casting out demons and so forth for the Lord because they don’t want to face persecution or rejection because of what they believe.
There is a severe consequence for being slothful and doing nothing for the Lord.
It is better you try to go out to the lost and fail to win them but remaining lazy and doing nothing for the lord can have severe consequences on your part. Paul told us that woe was unto him if he failed to preach the gospel.
Woe unto every Christian if they fail to preach the gospel. Everyone will be judged based on their works. You are supposed to produce works by which you will be judged by.
The wicked produce evil fruits daily and anger God daily and we as Christians are supposed to serve God fervently and produce good fruits for the kingdom of God.
The consequence of being slothful is that your name will be blotted out from the lambs book of life which means you will be cast into the outer darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, in simple term we call it hell fire.
Failing to use the talent that God has given you is hazardous. The little thing that you have, use it for the glory of God.
Do not hide your talent even if it is so little, use it for the kingdom of God and you shall receive praise of the same, but if you fail to use it shame and dishonour shall you get.
A lot of Christians are suffering in the fiery pits of hell because of failing to use the gifts that God gave them. Let us make a wise decision and get up and do something for the kingdom of God.
Some of the reasons that people have for doing nothing for the kingdom of God is fear.
People are afraid of being rejected by the world. The world is of the devil and most often it will reject you if you preach to them about Jesus Christ.
You are supposed to fear God rather than sinful men. Preach the truth whether you are accepted or rejected, yours is to fulfill the will of God.
Another reason is fear of persecution. The way of the cross is full of hatred, intimidation, blackmail, campaign of calumny, slanderous remarks and so forth.
The way to the kingdom of God leads us to be persecuted and even murdered. Since you gave your life to Jesus Christ you are supposed to carry your cross and follow Jesus.
The way to the kingdom of God is filled with thorns, snakes, beasts and cruelty but the end is beautiful.
We are required by God to overcome our fears and preach the word of God regardless of the consequences which we will face.
We will be able to overcome our fears by fearing God more than men. If we fail to preach and warn the wicked from their wicked ways, God will deal with us.
The lord Jesus Christ told us not to fear men who kill the body but afterwards they cannot do anything else but rather we should fear God who is able to kill the body and cast soul and body in hell.
We should fear God rather than those who can kill only the body. The benefits of being industrious worker in the kingdom of God is bearing fruits and being rewarded with eternal life.
There is a reward for those who work for the kingdom of God.
The word of God tells us that man cannot perceive in his heart what God has prepared for those who love him. Serve God fervently because the reward is beyond description.
The reward that Christ has prepared for us in the spirit realm is beyond description.
Those who remain slothful will face a punishment that is beyond description and those who work hard for the Lord will receive a reward that is beyond description.
Let us serve God fervently as faithful and wise servants and not as slothful servants who are unprofitable before the Lord.
Mat 25:14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
Mat 25:15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
Mat 25:16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
Mat 25:17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
Mat 25:18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
Mat 25:19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
Mat 25:20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
Mat 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Mat 25:22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
Mat 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Mat 25:24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
Mat 25:25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
Mat 25:26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
Mat 25:27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
Mat 25:28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
Mat 25:29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
Mat 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
