RICHES OF THIS WORLD ARE VAIN
The lord Jesus Christ told us to store up treasures in heaven where thieves do not break in and steal or where moths are not able to destroy them.
This is because the riches and success of this sinful world are vain; they have no lasting significance or value.
Death is certain and should affect the way each and everyone of us lives his or her life.
Because death is certain, it should motivate us to change the desires of our hearts. We should desire heavenly riches and glory rather than earthly riches and success.
Man came into this world with nothing and shall also depart out of this world with nothing. We should be concerned with our eternity and blessings that we will receive in the afterlife.
A person who is fervently trying to make it in this earth will likely go against the will of God.
Mat 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Mat 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Most of the time wealth brings in a barrier between God and humanity, that is why the lord Jesus Christ told us it is easy for a camel to go in through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter into the kingdom of God.
Most rich people have been deluded by the devil to think that only poor people need God because they are needy and even putting food on the table is a problem for them, but the rich people perceive in their hearts that they have everything that they require and do not need anything from God, but they don’t realize that they are naked, blind and delusional and they need healing from God.
Everyone needs Christ because all the good things that we enjoy comes down from the father of lights. If you don't need God in your life then you do not need anything that comes from him including the oxygen that you breath, sunshine, the rain, plants, animals, and any other gift that he has offered mankind.
Everything that we enjoy is not mother nature. All good things comes down from the father of lights in whom there is no variableness nor shadow of turning.
Jas 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
The word of God has given several warnings to rich men in several occasions indicating that it is too difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
Those who rejoice on this earth will likely suffer in the afterlife. Concentrate on heavenly blessings and help the needy with the treasures that you have stored up for yourselves and you will have treasures in heaven.
Mat 19:24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Prosperity on this earth comes with a lot of obligations and responsibilities that the Lord God expects you to fulfill.
God expects you to help the poor if you are rich, help those who are in prisons, visit the sick and pay their bills if they are unable to pay, ensure that your neighbors do not sleep on an empty stomach, help the church of God to grow with your financial aid and many other good works that you can help with your money.
But on the contrary, the rich usually care about themselves and their families.
They are good in ensuring that their children go to good schools, their wives are happy, well fed and they live confortable lives but they do not care about the welfare of the needy in the society.
Most of this rich people even ignore the poor when they encounter them, therefore they end up in the pit because their pride does not allow them to associate with the poor.
They look for people who are of the same class as them and ignore the less priviledged in the society, therefore this people end up in hell when they die for not helping the needy and looking down on the poor.
Luk 6:24 But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.
Luk 6:25 Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.
If you focus on getting successful here on the earth with your full concentration then your heart is on this earth and you do not care about your eternal habitation.
If you focus on heavenly blessings then you will focus less on earthly blessings.
You cannot serve God and wealth with equal concentration, they are two different masters.
Jesus Christ told us that a servant cannot serve two masters at the same time; either the servant will forsake one master and serve the other.
That is why prosperity preaching has little worth because prosperity on this earth lasts for a little season. Prosperity gospel is also against sound doctrine.
Prosperity in heaven is eternal. Preachers should preach repentance and salvation and teach people on how to receive heavenly blessings rather than earthly blessings.
Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
The word of God tells us to be carnally minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. When you focus on the things of the world you will easily fall into the traps of the enemy.
Do not mind earthly blessings but mind heavenly blessings. Everything that you see with the physical eyes are carnal.
Some of the examples of carnal things are; Children, wife, laptops, tvs, cars, money, everthing on the outside is carnal and things which have no lasting significance or value.
Rom 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Rom 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
The lord Jesus Christ told us about the rich fool. He had gathered a lot of wealth unto himself and said within himself that he will relax, eat and rejoice but that same day his soul was required.
Luk 12:18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
Luk 12:19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
Luk 12:20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
Luk 12:21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
You can die at any moment and the treasures which you have piled up will be useless. You came into this world with nothing and you will also leave this world with nothing.
Do good by bearing good fruits for Jesus Christ so that you can gather wealth and treasures in heaven.
Wealth in heaven can be attained, by evangelizing to the lost, preaching the word of God, helping the needy and doing good works for our lord and savior Jesus Christ.
The word of God tells us to be content with what we have. If you have food and raiment be content. What more do you need.
The devil will deceive you that you need a lot of money to live. You need very little money to live on this earth.
The urge to store treasures on this earth is the cause of stealing, killing, destruction and corruption in high places. The love of money is the root of all evil.
Prosperity preachers lie to their followers that the rich are ones who have been blessed by God.
The devil also gives his children monetary blessings and wealth as long as he knows he has succeded in drawing them away from God.
Be content with what you have and do not covet other peoples property, appreciate God for the things that He has granted you.
1Ti 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
1Ti 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
1Ti 6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
1Ti 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
1Ti 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Wealth and riches is not a sin but a blessing from God, but if we concentrate too much on earthly blessings then we lose focus on heavenly blessings which can become a snare for our souls.
Concentrate on things that you will gain in the afterlife but not on this wicked world.
Be content with what you have for the riches of this world have no lasting significance. The world is passing away and its lasts thereof but he that does the will of God abides forever.
Store up treasures in heaven for the treasures in heaven are eternal.
Riches of this world are vain.
